China is among the world’s leading consumer markets for wildlife extracted both legally and illegally from across globe. Due to its mega-richness in biodiversity strong economic ties with China, Southeast Asia (SEA) has long been implicated as a source transit hub transnational legal illegal trade China. Although several cross-border domestic enforcement mechanisms have established tackle this region, international cooperation policy coordination between SEA neighbors remain limited scope effectiveness. Difficulties investigating prosecuting offenders overseas jurisdictions, well organized criminal groups that sustain illicit supply chain, continue undermine efforts by region’s governments combat trafficking.
